Who is CJ Devgun?

Born and raised in India, I came to the US in the early 90s in pursuit of my MBA with $2,000 in my pocket, which was a lot of money for a middle-class parent to give. The intent was for me to work and save money to pay for my tuition and living expenses. However, once I landed the reality hit hard. The US was going through a severe recession, the jobless rate was high and there were very limited job prospects, especially for someone with no work experience and an undergraduate degree in Physics. One thing I learned quickly, the future is in the field of Information Technology. So I decided to return home and pursue education in Information Technology.

I returned to the Americas but this time I landed in Canada instead of the US. My first break came from a startup company as an Internet programmer. The Internet was a brand new technology in those days, most people used to call it an Information Highway. It was a great experience, being a small company, I wore different hats on different days. From business analyst- gathering requirements to an architect designing the system to a developer- coding the scripts to administrator- deploying the code to production.

My passion to learn business processes and eagerness to learn new skills propelled me to various leadership roles and by 2002 I was North American Technology Director for the Computer Sciences Corporation’s (CSC) Provider practice.

In 2007, I decided to leave CSC to pursue my entrepreneurial dream, just as in 1991, it was a learning experience, in 2010 I decided to return to my roots, which is leading and managing software delivery. During my consulting career, I’ve supported several large Fortune 500 clients to transform and become agile to adapt to changing technologies and market needs.

I am a resourceful and outcome-focused executive who knows what it takes to lead and deliver a large and complex digital transformation program. I have been fortunate enough to have managed and delivered some of the largest digital transformation programs (including a half-billion-dollar program for a fortune 200 company).

On a personal front, I did achieve my original goal of coming to the Americas, i.e., completed my MBA from the IVEY business school in 2004. In-addition, I also earned my PGMP certification, which stands for Program Management Professional from the Project Management Institute in 2011. I also served as an Adjunct Professor in Schulich school of business from 2009 to 2015 teaching courses on how to align IT Strategy with business strategy.

In addition to my consulting work, I’ve a passion to help educate underprivileged (invisible) kids in India so they reach their potential and raise the stature of their family and communities that have faced hardships because of their social and economic positions.

I am an expert in:

  • Strategic Planning
  • Organizational Change Management
  • Delivering Large Digital Transformational Programs.

My biggest strengths are:

  • Effective communication
  • Ability to form and lead a high performing team of skilled professionals
  • Establish governance processes to drive and resolve project risks and issues and deliver desired outcomes.
